Nathaniel Durotoye has a unique path to product design, and we can’t wait to learn more about his journey and experiences.

Nathaniel, welcome aboard! To kick things off, can you tell us:

1. What drives you to pursue a career in product design?

I’m driven by a passion for solving real-life problems and creating solutions that impact people’s lives.

2. What is your design process like? Can you walk us through a typical project?

My design process is all about setting the right foundation and breaking down complex tasks into manageable pieces.

I love starting with moodboarding to get a feel for the project’s aesthetic and tone.

From there, I dive into research, wireframing, and prototyping.

I’m a big believer in iterative design, so I prioritize flexibility and refinement throughout the process.

I also make sure to break down my work into clear, actionable tasks to keep myself organized and focused.

3. How do you balance user needs with business goals in your design?

I believe that user needs and business goals aren’t mutually exclusive.

I prioritize user needs while considering business objectives.

I ensure that my designs meet user expectations while driving business outcomes.

4. How do you think AI and automation will impact the design industry?

AI and automation will augment design capabilities, freeing us from mundane tasks and enabling us to focus on high-level creative thinking.

I see AI assisting with design systems, accessibility, and user research, but human empathy and creativity will remain essential in design.
